I am part of the Empower gym, I participate in the empowerment programme for women. It is all about fitness and wellbeing. I attend the gym two to three times a week and quite often at 6am on a Thursday in class and then for an hour’s walk and talk with the ladies, this is essential to my wellbeing, it keeps me fit and connected. I believe you cannot have one without the other. Wellness is a holistic approach, you need physical and mental fitness together, the gym provides that. What is the worst illness you’ve had? Early stage thyroid cancer, it was back a few years ago I was fortunate to have found it early and had it removed.

My diet can vary, this can be for many reasons – the time of year, if something is coming up, and what is going on. I used to be an emotional eater and once I recognised it I have been able to reframe my food habits and make better choices. I definitely have a balance diet now that I understand my eating habits. Enjoying food and cooking is very important to me.
